New Products are in the works. In the Makers tradition, sound kits are made in house and / or in partnership with a gang of talented individuals. For an upcoming series of live drum breaks (Inebriated Breaks Vol 1, 2 & 3) I felt inspired by the slightly drunken feel of the drummer, Danya Thompson.
My initial thought was to create imagery with whiskey bottles cleverly placed in front of or on top of a drum kit. Unfortunately, this idea didn't hold up as well so I moved on.
From there I could still see images of whiskey bottles. First bottle that came to mind was Jack Daniels. Looking closer at the bottle I kind of took a liking to the design of the label itself. So I took to photoshop and the Internet to lift the border design.
It quickly progressed to this... I was excited to have found very similar fonts for the design.
This is nearly a one for one copy of, or at least my take on, the Jack Daniels label. But since I don't have a drum set I thought it would make sense to have a Barrel photo to represent the drum and the whiskey. At this point I just used the Jack Daniels inspired art as an overlay.
I thought that the front cover was cluttered and so I shortened the Jack Daniels overlay. To make it less busy. Also, I changed the image to bring home the theme a bit better so there is no guessing about the barrels contents. Plus this image is just much cooler. Reminds me of a typical cool cat sort of musician.
Finally arrived here. Final art for one of my first products. I thought the glass and barrel on one side was unbalanced. So I copied it and flipped it in a way that allows the cigar smoke to add a bit of magic.
